Going Green and Clean

So what exactly is a green food?  A green food is good for the environment, and uses a minimal amount of energy during production and transport. The less processing and the less distance traveled, the more green the food!  You can?t go wrong with organic, local foods, free of pesticides and chemicals and good for the environment. 

Organic farming is a green sustainable farming process.  Foods are produced without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, or antibiotics.  It also ensures that the product does not contain GMOs (genetically modified organisms).  Organic farmers also participate in more sustainable crop management keeping soil healthy and ready to produce the best quality produce!  Pollution is also reduced by organic farming practices. So, keep your body and the environment clean by going organic whenever possible!

What's better than an organic food?  A local organic food!  Local foods require even less energy, because they are barely traveling! By buying local, you will be supporting local business and farmers and burning less fossil fuel!  Added Bonus: The sooner produce is consumed after being picked, the better for taste and nutrient quality. So, stay close to home and go local!
